Simon isn’t the only one alive here!

Written by Dominic Sheard and published October 1, 2010

If you’re looking at this then you’ve seen the fantastically spiffy, awesomely beautiful, black and white mode-7. All this has been revamped and brought to you by the remarkable Simon Lundmark, who instead of having a lovely summer off to have full on nakedness tanning in the sun, decided to spend his precious time coding away and creating this lovely new site. Big hurrah to him, he deserves it.

It’s still the same dynamic duo… wait that one is taken already, hang on… let me think of a new title. Got one! Let’s start again. As I was saying, the site is still run by the same tremendous twosome (that took me a whole two minutes to think that up, I feel proud) and when the flow gets going we shall be bringing you posts and our opinions on the games we’re playing. There’s no limit on how we play our games, so expect to see all systems covered and most likely games that are not as brand spanking new as mode-7 is right now.

All the old opinions are on the site, along with Simon’s verdict on the latest Prince of Persia game that hit this summer. I’d get Simon to say hello but he kind of has his head in a pillow right now. He seems to be screaming about a plan to grow a beard because of some terrible news. He just read that Gears of War 3 is now delayed till the end of the year. That gives me more time to get round to playing the second game then.

Simon’s already mentioned that there’s a huge amount of games coming out now and I’ll no doubt have plenty to say about them. One game I’m keeping my eye out for is next week’s release of Front Mission Evolved. I’m a super fan of Square’s past efforts on the Front Mission series, my favourite being the third instalment on the original Playstation.

My main worry is the change in gameplay from a strategy RPG (I love my SRPGs) to an all out action shooter. I pray that the game is at least good to play, if not, you’ll see me acting like a raging animal full of anger all over this web space. It’s worrying when you aren’t sure if you’re going to like a game in a series that you’d normally jump all over and pound like an active rabbit. We’ll see if SquareEnix’s faith in Double Helix pays off … that we shall.
